Understanding Frustration For Yourself And Your Dog

Frustration in your ongoing training program is crucial to good learning and understanding and the willingness to show a multitude of behaviors.

The key to remember is not to get frustrated yourself! If you dog is not understanding or progressing like you think he should, simply back up and try again later. Yelling, anger and frustration on your part will only shut him down because he will become fearful to try new things!

This is why force training doesn’t work to create a thinking dog. Dogs who are forced are too scared to experiment with new behaviors, they would simply rather wait for a command or to be forced to accomplish a task.

I like a thinking dog, and I like a challenge it means I can have dog that are able to accomplish amazing feats because they are happy and joyful about learning. But in order for them to progress in their training program I have to know just how far to push them with frustration to help them accelerate to the next level. My dogs are never afraid to make a mistake or show a wrong behavior because they enjoy the learning process and they know if it is not rewarded, it was not what I wanted!!

Good luck and have fun together!

Gas Prices are Over $4.25/Gallon The Economy Is In The Tank - But

believe it or not, Dog owners are spending more than ever on their pets,
and that is a good thing that illustrates how much we love our pets.

The nonprofit American Pet products Association said pet industry
spending this year is expected to increase 5.1% to exceed $ 50 Billion Dollars.
This follows a 6.2% jump from last year.

One industry source says that pets kinda get the same treatment as kids.
They are the last ones you want to cut back on.
Obviously companionship and love are among the top benefits of pet
ownership and increasing numbers of dog owners also cite stress relief
and exercise garnered from walking their dogs are an increasing benefit.

Obviously, people are taking care of their pets before
they take care of themselves. That is a good thing.

Children Should Be Protected Fron Dogs With Mange

Everyone, especially kids are cautioned not to touch a mangy dog for fear that the mange will ooze from the hapless pooch to the child and cause his skin to rot and his hair to fall out.

Mange comes in three varieties: Demodectic, Cheyletiella and Sarcoptic. It is caused by different species of mites, tiny eight-legged critters related to spiders.

Demodectic mange is caused by Demodex canis, a tiny mite that cannot be seen without the aid of a microscope. This mange strikes puppies from three to 12 months old.

The demodex mite is commonly present in the pores of puppy skin and usually does not cause symptoms, and it is not at all certain what causes them to activate.

The mites can produce a substance that lowers the dog's resistance to them and make use of an opportunity to multiply.

It is also possible that some lines of purebred dogs carry lowered resistance to the mites, and that stress can trigger an active infestation.

In any case, demodectic mange symptoms include thinning of the hair around the eyes and mouth and on the front legs that evolves into patches of hair loss approximately one inch in diameter.

This mange may correct itself within three months or may require treatment.

However, demodectic mange can also begin as a localized infestation and develops into a generalized case with multiple hair-loss sites on the dog's head, legs, and body.

This is a far more serious condition and requires veterinary attention. The dog's skin is sore, crusty, and oozing; the hair follicles are clogged with mites and debris.

Treatment is extended and requires bathing in medicated shampoo and application of an insecticide to kill the mites.

Cheyletiella mange is also known as walking dandruff. It affects puppies and is caused by a large reddish mite that can be seen under a magnifying glass. This mange is identified by the dandruff dusting that occurs over the dog's head, neck, and back.

Walking dandruff is highly contagious but short-lived. It causes mild itching. The mite that causes the mange dies a short time after leaving the host.

Sarcoptic mange, also known as scabies, is caused by a microscopic mite. The female mite causes the characteristic intense itching as they burrow under the skin to lay their eggs.

The eggs hatch in a few days, develop into adults, and begin laying their own eggs in less than three weeks.

Dogs with scabies dig and bite at themselves with great ferocity. Their skin reacts with oozing sores, and secondary infection may set in, requiring treatment with an antibiotic in addition to treatment for the mites.

Unfortunately, the sarcoptic mange mite can be difficult to find in skin scrapings, and unless the veterinarian parts the hair and carefully examines the bare skin for the characteristic pin-point bite marks, diagnosis is difficult.

Furthermore, the presence of a secondary skin infection can hamper the search for the mite bite marks.

Telltale signs of sarcoptic mange are crusty ear tips, fierce itching, and hair loss, particularly on the ears, elbows, legs, and face in the early stages.

Sarcoptic mange is contagious to canines and humans. If the dogs share sleeping places or if the infected dog sleeps on beds or furniture, everyone will begin scratching.

It is not unheard of for the family dog to infest the kids, the kids playmates, and playmates to infest their pets and parents with scabies.

Fortunately scabies in humans is self-limiting, that is the mite can burrow under the skin and cause itching, but cannot complete its life cycle on humans and dies within a few weeks.

Veterinarians now use Ivermectin in two doses, two weeks apart, to kill the mites. They may also prescribe steroids for short-term use to relieve the itching until the mites begin to die off and give the dog some relief.

Canine skin damaged by sarcoptic mange and secondary skin infections can take weeks or months to heal, depending on the scope of the problems. Frequent medicated baths may be necessary to soothe irritated skin.

Mange symptoms can mimic that caused by other skin conditions, bacterial infections secondary to flea allergies, and contact dermatitis, making it impossible for the pet owner to diagnose with any success.

If your dog suffers from irritated, itchy skin, make an appointment with the veterinarian. Early diagnosis of any of these problems will give you a head start on a cure and will be less uncomfortable for your pet.

Natural Dog Allergy Remedies And Treatments Work The Best

Allergy relief with natural allergy remedies

There are many ways that you can get allergy relief with natural allergy remedies. Many pet owners have not heard of these or are skeptical that they actually work and would rather stick to the Vet's prescription just in case. This is totally unnecessary as you can start your pet or yourself on any natural allergy remedy right away and see for yourself.

Natural allergy remedies have been tested and many allergy suffers have been able to live more healthy lives because of them. It is well worth looking into if you have tried everything and are just stuck taking medication every single day, which has other side effects that are not good for the body. These allergy relief products can be found at many online stores as well as at local health stores. Allergy relief is what every suffer wants and anything natural should be considered above all chemical counterparts.

Some natural allergy remedies that you can use to take care of mild attacks from pollen, pet hair, mould, smoke, and dust includes sniffing salt water. The salt kills any bacteria and works the same way as a nasal spray. To do this you can get what are called neti pots, and are used in India quite frequently. Quercetin is a natural plant extract found in parsley, onions, citrus fruit and apples that is used to stop the mast cells in your body from releasing the histamines that cause your allergy symptoms. Use foods like chilies and peppers to act as a natural decongestant and eat lots of omega 3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation.

Many dog allergies start from when your pet is a puppy and there has been some link to pregnancy and a certain predisposition to them. For example a pet can become allergic to nuts if they started eating them before the age when it is deemed appropriate. The body cannot cope with this type of food too early and they become allergic to it. If a digestive system is too weak or underdeveloped due to a premature birth perhaps then an allergy might develop towards milk.

Certain herbs and mineral can help to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. These are included in many of the natural allergy remedies you get and aside from buying the individual herbs and mineral compounds; you can also get various specially formulated allergy relief products to combat all the symptoms of allergies. Asthma is another serious allergy and the main cause of all allergies including asthma is a release of histamines to the nerve receptors when they feel the attack of certain pollens, pet hairs and mould. This causes us to sneeze, become watery eyed, have difficulty breathing and gives your pet a runny nose and is why the Vets will prescribe an antihistamine. So, in order to combat this, using a natural allergy relief product, you need to first prevent the allergic attack and treat the allergies with natural antihistamines.

It can be very irritating and socially unacceptable for your pet to have allergies. Your pet keeps sneezing and coughing and a lot of the time it can prevent you from getting on and enjoying your association as you would like to. There are many allergies that pets have and some include hay fever, allergies to dust, milk, nuts and bees.
